The Porsche 924 is a car manufactured between 1976 and 1988 by the German car manufacturer Porsche. The Porsche 924 was developed to follow the Porsche 914. The Dutchman Harm Lagaaij was involved in the styling. The development team was commissioned to develop a sports car with four seats. This had to be suitable for a water-cooled four-cylinder engine in the front, the gearbox was included in the rear axle construction. This so-called transaxle construction provided an ideal weight distribution (53% ahead, 47% behind). From 1969, a total of 118,000 cars were built.
